Some organisations face the challenge of staff being distributed around the globe. For this blended learning project this was especially true.
The organisation has staff in North and South America, Europe and Asia. How do you train all of them to reach a common point of understanding? For this project the time-zone reality of our team being 5 hours ahead of the American group, whilst at the same time being 7 hours behind the Asian team was particularly interesting.
But we found a three-way solution.
- We created a pre-learning environment using our LMS (On-line Learning Management System) together with practical work. Tutors provided practical lesson feedback on an individual basis.
- We next provided a series of video conferences in real time, aligned to the time-zones, for next stage learning and live interaction.
- Finally we pulled everyone through more advanced marked work. Here we used on-line quizzes to cement the knowledge and open up the challenge of applying the knowledge to diverse situations.
The feedback from around the globe was excellent, and the experience exceeded most peoples’ expectations. The effort we put in was rewarded by the smile on the faces of delegates.
And the subjects we taught? IT Audit; Risk Management; Root Cause Analysis; and Report Writing.
